Awards

WESCO is widely recognized for extra effort service and translating results into bottom line savings for our customers. The awards below illustrate our commitment to service and excellence.

2005 Premier Supplier Award

  • Presented by Bayer Corporation
  • WESCO was one of only twelve suppliers to receive this award. The award recognizes suppliers for superior quality and service as well as cost reduction strategies.

Silver Service Award - Abitibi Consolidated

Customer:
Abitibi Consolidated is a major player in the pulp and paper industry. It is a global leader in newsprint and uncoated groundwood papers with ownership interests in 27 paper mills, 22 sawmills, 3 remanufacturing facilities, and 10 recycling centers in Canada, the US, the UK, and Asia.

Details:
The Abitibi Supplier Award highlights outstanding performance by suppliers in various categories - WESCO competes in the 'Service and Maintenance' category. The Corporate Supply management office in Montreal and each of the mills nominate suppliers (at the time of the award, Abitibi had more than 10,000 suppliers on file). Awards are given based on specific criteria including:

  • on-time delivery
  • total cost of ownership
  • continuous improvement.

WESCO also received the Gold Service Award from Abitibi in 2002.

Supplier of the Year - Cargill Sweeteners

Customer:
From corn syrups to sucrose to customized blends, Cargill Sweeteners supplies a variety of nutritive sweeteners used in beverages, baked goods, candies, cereals and other prepared foods. It is a business unit of Cargill, Incorporated, an international marketer, processor, and distributor of agricultural, food, financial and industrial products and services with 97,000 employees in 60 countries.

Details:
At a supplier recognition dinner on August 20, 2003, WESCO was one of four Select Suppliers presented with a "Supplier of the Year" plaque from Cargill Sweeteners North America for their efforts at Cargill sites over the last year.

Winning the contract in 2001 was just the first step of a very large task. The conversion from the previous contract holder involved more than 3,000 products that had to be cross-referenced from previous suppliers. Cargill's size and complexity made the implementation process challenging, but WESCO rose to the occasion.

Dave Gapinski, WESCO's National Account Manager says, "This award was a result of the excellent commitment from our local branch reps, and the support those local reps received from our Relationship Development Managers utilizing our National Account Value Add program."
